Garnet in Rhyolite - Garnet Hill, White Pine County, Nevada
Deep-red Almandine-Spessartine embedded in a drusy quartz lined gas pocket within the pale-pinkish Rhyolite matrix. Garnet Hill is renowned among rockhounds for its well-formed garnet crystals. These garnets are Geologically uncommon as they crystallized directly from a magma, making them igneous in origin, rather than being formed from metamorphic processes.
