Barite from the Dee Mine, Nevada
The Dee Mine has produced some of the state's finest crystallized Barite and this specimen is no exception. It showcases transparent, sharp, glassy chisel-style crystals that have a warm honey-golden hue. These crystals are beautifully arranged on a barite matrix.
Specimens from this discovery were collected in the late 1990s during underground excavation of a decline. The mine closed shortly after, in late 2000, and remains closed today.
